The layer everything else sits on
A tee is the piece you'll wear more than anything else you own, which is exactly why it's worth spending on.
What makes a good one
- Hold it up to the light. Thin enough to see through means it will show every line underneath by lunch.
- Check the neckline against your favorite necklace. A crew that sits too high hides everything you'd put on it.
- Buy the one that fits your shoulders. Everything else can be worked around.
What's replacing the plain jersey
Slub and pointelle textures are what women are choosing over a plain jersey this season, and scoop neck tanks are outselling crews. Basics restock constantly, so if a color is gone it's usually back.
How many t-shirts should I own?
Fewer than you have and better than the ones you've got. Four or five that fit properly will get worn constantly. A drawer of fifteen mediocre ones produces the same two outfits and a lot of guilt. Start with one that fits your shoulders. Work out from there.
